The annual food waste is unfortunately worth € 6,403 million in the Italian domestic sector alone and is close to € 10 billion, if we add the entire Italian supply chain, losses in the field and waste in trade and distribution equivalent to another € 3,285 million . Although it is a downward trend and Italians are less "wasteful" than citizens of other European and non-European states, the figure remains high, even in the face of the growing poverty of strata of the national and world population! According to a survey by Waste Watcher 2021, every Italian wastes on average just over ½ kg of food every week and, among the various wastes, Italians declared, for example, that they "often throw away" fruit, vegetables, bread between 15% and 17% of cases. Use of renewable sources, reduction of water consumption, calibrated purchases, careful management of products, reduction of excess consumption, healthy diet, etc. are some of the paths of conscious production and consumption that can be followed. The fight against waste is a topic of current importance, not only for an economic issue but also for its environmental and social impacts: the Round Table intends to share some examples and positive ways to continue to reduce it.
How to participate:
After registering for the GECO event, log in to the gecoexpo.com website with your credentials, by clicking on the "Login" button visible on the Homepage at the top right.
Once logged in, there are 2 ways to watch the scheduled contents:
- Click on the "Go to the fair" button visible from 1 March for the buyer profile, from 3 March for the visitors profile, entered the virtual fair environment, you will have to go to the auditorium area (visible on the map) and click on the stage screen you will follow the direct of the content;
- Click on the button "Access the content program" available on the homepage of the website for all profiles from March 1st, both visitors and buyers.
In addition, just before the start of each speech, the avatars connected at that time on the platform will display a notification, inviting them to go to the auditorium to follow the scheduled content.
